what i need to look for is one called an apple snail and pref a male one and i should be fine ....
( no lil baby snails right?)

yes! i believe that the really bright yellow ones are the apple snails and the darker ones are mystery snails (whatever that means lol) I have one of the latter and they are just great to have as tank mates. I wouldn't recommend to put a snail in with anymore than 2 goldies because they tend to bully them! I have Taro, my mystery snail, in with my black moor, and the poor thing got tortured for the first week or so, but is now learning how to evade the big black thing that keeps knocking him off the wall. I dont' really know how to tell the sex of a snail, but i know that if you buy one, there's a 50% chance it's female lol and another 50% chance that she's pregnant. I got lucky and mine was neither. Have fun and remember, they grow and FAST!!

oh also, i found out by going to www.applesnail.net that if it had a breathing tubicle thing that it's an apple snail. i just got two snails last night and one has a long tube, so he's apple
