Full Version: Emergency Air Supply

I came across this fairly old but interesting fish-keeping book the other day.
In it the author described the use of a car tube as an emergencey air supply. The tube was inflated and just prior to connecting to a suitable air line, the valve was loosened slightly to allow the right volume of air to escape.
Imagine the possibilities for those that suffer from frequent power failures! You could purchase a tractor tube, connect it up and "hey presto", air supply for days on end. If you inflate the tube at your local garage you could save on power costs by not running an electric pump and by placing it in front of your aquarium you could use it as a comfortable lounge chair!
The only downfall would be the looks you would get from people as you walked home from the garage with a huge inflated tractor tube. rofl3.gif

That is a cool idea. Did it say anything about the air quality coming out of there? The only reason I ask is the air is usually very stale. What about the chemicals on the tire, like the stuff they put on rubber? Tires are a different rubber material. Just asking, I do think it is a cool idea, as long as the stuff I mentioned doesn't cause harm.

I was thinking the same think LaurieP....but that is a neat idea, maybe an inflatable pool toy would be better and more attractive! biggrin.gif

Ooooohhhhhh, it could go with the tank theme. How cool would that be. especially if you got one with fish on it. :goldfish rofl3.gif

Of course the tube would need to be placed in front of the aquarium . With it being summer in the Northern hemisphere you could don your swimming trunks/gear and recline in the tube with a glass of soda whilst watching your fish.(Through a pair of huge "Elton John" sunglasses of course)

Now that's a picture and a 1/2. Too funny.

I can see it now, rindstones and all. How about some knee socks with sandles, like Ed on National Lampoons Vactation.

To funny.
