Found this one at Petsmart. Its about1 1/2 inches big, and all black!! Not just the shell, the whole body and all, antennas as well! It looks so neat when that black snail marches through the tank....
Don't know if the apple snails come in black as well, or if its some other snail, but it sure looks good! happydance.gif

Does it have algea growing on it? If so it's a Japanese snail. I had some in the pond. Problem was when they get algea on them, they blend in with the pond algea and when cleaning the pond I would almost toss them out every time. Plus when I have to get in the pond it is hard to see them if they are on the bottom.

Apple snails come in all colors, including black. I was admiring a really pretty striped one at work today. His body was all black with some gold spots on it!

No, Debbie, no algae on this one, but still pretty enought hat I got 2 more today, together with 2 Ivory snails. They look wonderful with their pale whitish kind of color, and they give a really neat color contrast in my new planted tank with black gravel.
Jen, did you see those light brown apple snails with purple stripes on aquabid? Boy, do I want some of those! wub.gif

Really it was black?
It must be sutch a pretty snail.
Im planing on getting another snail.I saw this lovely
big one,it was white and brown
and it was kinda big about 4 to 5 inchs.

He was only for 5$ also.... i wonder why>

5$ is the regular going price here for a HUGE apple snail, and I mean huge! Saw one today, but I figured how long can she live being this big already. I rather buy the smaller ones, watch them grow and have them longer....smile.gif

smile.gif im guessing that you are right,
just like goldfish.
Buying them younger is better, you see
your babies grow up.
