Okay lets test some things in the tank:)
1. nitrites
2 nitrates
3.Ph
How often is the water been changed and how much and how big is the tank?
How many filters on the tank and when was the last time you change the cartridge?

i am doing a water change today...do you want to know what the nitrites, etc are before or after? i change it once a week. it is a ten gallon, with 4 goldies in it (i know its too small but i am upgrading to a 50 gal soon i hope) i have one filter on the tank, and i changed the cartridge one week ago, because i went on vacation and came back and my water was a deep green and the filter cartridge was covered in algae and smelled horrible. i usually change about 40/50% heres the stats for now (before the change)
nitrites: 0
ph: 7.5
ammonia: 0
there is no nitrates!!!!!!!! that is very stupid of those people not to put a nitrate test in there also. tia!!!!!

The reason for this blum is the fact theres to many of them in there so the tank water is going nuts. I would be doing more water changes like 2-3 a week with that any fish also maybe another small filter in the tank. I wouldnt add any kind of algea eater fish in this since the tank is over stocked. Is there anyway to get some of these fish into another tank........
I know your tring

You over stocker you

i do more water changes then. i dont know that i can add another filter or else there will be no lid or light! i would have gotten a bigger tank when i got them but it was kinda like a last minute thing, they were just sort of handed off to me! but i am gonna get a bigger tank as soon as i can, a 50 gal so i can get a ryukin! we have a water softener at our house, and so i had been using that water. today i used the faucet that is not softened to see if it makes a difference. my water does look less cloudy, but its still there.

yeah try not to use Soften water there is salt in that kind of water and will cause problems with the goldfish in the long run
