Anyone use peat in there tank?

Nope or have I have ever seen a tank with peat in it. Im guessing it would do more harm than good to any fish you had in the same tank though.

Only use peat if you need your ph to drop. Also to make the water a brown ting to it......It will lower your PH levels

where can you get peat that is safe for fish tanks?

You can find it at any LFS stores. Look in the filter area they should have boxes of it for the canisters

Some plants like it in the aquatics and others dont. Its the whole Ph value you have to look at with the plants and fish

Well, peat is mainly used to soften the water. It works by leaching humic acid into the water.
If you just want to soften the water, Mardel makes a product called Tank Soft that is just the humic acid and works the same way. Like peat, it will cause PH to drop, so follow the directions!

co2 makes ph rise right, so when used together there will balence ph?
