my new telescope eyed goldies scales have started to slightly lift. Not much and she seems ok otherwise. I started her on MetroMeds right away. I hope my metro meds are still good. I got them in January or December, so hopefully their good. She seems no worse today , I was worried she'd get worse overnight but she didn't, actually she seems peppier. I raised the heat, and am raising it to near 80. I was not sure though, should I add Epsom salts or aquarium salts? I have heard either way. If so what sort of dose is recommended. My black moore with the ragged fins is in the same 20gal tank recovering from his tattered fins. The nitrites, and ammonia are 0. The nitrates were 40 yesterday but I did a water change to bring it down a little lower to 20.

Thanks for any help.

Panda, its the epsom salt you should be using, and its 1/8 teaspoon per 5 gl of water. With everything else you are right on track. How is your goldie doing today? smile.gif

she's actually doing better!! smile.gif I added about 1/4 teaspoon to my 20gal, because I had not heard any replys on the ammount and didn't want to overdose. I started her on metromeds right away and turned up the heat to 78 degrees. She looked better in 2 days, I then added some Jungle Fungus eliminator that is supposed to help with bacterial infections and dropsy, fin rot, etc. Her scales are flat now and she seems peppier. I think maybe she had some sort of bacterial infection from the store she was purchased in. My tank water is good and clean, cycled, etc. but I think maybe she picked up something before I got her. I noticed she had really thing stringy poo, so that leads to that evidence to. I am going to do a water change today and add more salt too. Hopefully she'll stay well.
