My one fry was at least 3 times bigger than any of the others. He was my favorite, he was the biggest, the healthiest and the prettiest.

Not to be mean, but my fry are all ugly, seriously. Any breeder would have culled them already, except for Godzilla.

The big Oranda "Godzilla" had a butterfly tail, all of his fins, and already had colour, he was blue, and his belly was silver, he was the exact same colour as his dad "Woogie". He had a fat oranda face already, and looked exactly like a little fish.

All the other fry are still brown, and still look like sticks.

This morning "Godzilla" did not look like himself, he was drifting around near the top of the tank. I fed and cleaned as usual.

When I came back he was sitting on the bottom, as though his body were "heavy".

Then a few minutes ago, I came back and he was swimming upside down, and struggling very hard to right himself.

I removed him from the tank, and put him in a sour cream container with another fry that has been there for a few days. The other fry died twice and I revived him, he floated for 3 days not moving, and is now fine.....but anyway.....

A few minutes after I removed Godzilla he was dead.

I still have him in the container. I just poked him and he twitched and swam a bit....which is weird because he's been dead for almost 10 minutes.

Well he died again....I'm going to wait and see if he comes back to life.

Nothing is moving, not even his gills cry3.gif

Why are my fry dying?! They are eating Hikari, and I do two water changes a day, and the food is syphoned about half hour after feeding.

Ammonia is 0, so is nitrite.

Bah!

Oh Jess I'm sorry about your beautiful baby....I unfortunately don't have any experience in raising fry so I cannot answer your question. Don't lose hope though...I'm sure your other fry even if they are not as pretty as godzilla will make it through. ((((((HUGS)))))

RIP Godzilla. Even though your life in this world was short, it was filled with love. You will be missed.

sorry to hear about your troubles with some of your fry, jess.

i have heard that when you "cross-breed" goldies that you can get more abnormalities than if you were to breed thier offspring. i dont know the validity of that statement though! maybe genetics? maybe they have some sort of abnormality that isnt visible? who knows? hopefully godzilla will come around soon! unsure.gif

Jessica, you have my condolence.

I'm sure he will return as Godzilla II, bigger and stronger than before.

Jesica, why do you do 2 water changes per day? Are they full water changes or partial? Perhaps this is what is causing stress to your fish.
Do not lose heart.

No they are just small water changes. Not big ones.

I syphon out the old food, and readd some aged water. I do that twice a day.

Thanks everyone.

Baby fish dying is stressful, it's not so bad when they look like sticks, but when they look like a little fish and die, it's harder, at least for me it is.

As for Godzilla 11 LOL (I nicknamed him Godzilla because he was soo HUGE) one of the other fry looks like he is turning blue like his dad. But his dad who is blue looks like he is turning white......heehee
