Does anyone know if freezing works as a method of sterilization? If so, what would it entail?

Freezing just won't work... In fact, I work with microorganisms and we preserve them in temperatures as low as -80C
If you want to sterilize you should try potassium permanganate or 70% ethanol. I used to sterilize my tanks with permanganate but it takes a long time (5-7 days). With ethanol you have to rinse the tank with water, let it dry, apply 70%ethanol with a spray and let it evaporate on the glass till dry. Repeat application.

Interesting - I always have used PP, two rounds of 24 hours @. What organisms am I potentially missing? Nasty virus, I suspect.
(I usually discard the biomedia and only use the pp to clobber the tank, decorations, rocks, filter hardware, etc.)

When I was cleaning out an infected tank all I did was rinse it out about 10 times and use some good old elbow grease to get rid of nasties that may of been left behind. How wrong was I but luckily I got away with it.
I will know what to do for the future. Thanks
