I see so many different typoes of filters being mentioned here. I just would really like to know the difference, and basically be a little more educated. I am only familiar with hang on filters. Anyone have a good site

Keisha,

If you check a number of online stores' websites, you should be able to see the differences.

However, the SIMPLEst way I have found is to just go to something like a Petsmart and talk with the people there. You not only get information, but can see the filters firsthand.

If you're REALLY lucky (like the LFS near my house) you can see a number of them set up and actually in use in tanks.

So while online is fun while you're out shopping spend a little time just looking at the fiulters themselves. And, personally, I like the quality, prices, and humane treatment of the fish that they sell in their stores.

Luck to you.

have a look at this for a start
Filter page
you can get a cheap power filter, progressing to a biological filter
to a more expensive wet dry filter
the more you pay the more thorough it clean
the wet and dry filter has three filtering mechanism
chemical, biological and mechanical
either way you have to clean them out once they fill up with
waste etc tongue.gif

i currently have a bio filter and it works great
i clean the sponge once a week
and occasionally i filter out waste/rubbish with a net
