Hi! sorry to cut in on the conversation but i have some questions on Orandas, i just got one (Galileo) and he is so pretty!! He eats but he dosnt swim up to eat, he just waits for the food to sink. How do i make him eat?

When ever i get a new fish, they do the same as yours. over the course of a few weeks, the new fish learns that the food is at the surface.

Thanks for the reply!! (i was getting worried!) and now that i put a cave in my tank Galileo seems alot happier, hes swimming more, and more! :)

I just have to add that not all adult orandas will have well developed wen growths. Whether the wen will continue growing or not if it is found to be rather underdeveloped in adults, it depends on genetics, foods and environmental conditions. I found Max, my new 6-7" oranda from a goldfish breeder. He may be 2-3 years old or even younger but I'll perhaps ask the breeder about his age. Here he is.:)

I absolutely :heart orandas! ... I've heard them be referred to as "the puppy dogs of the fish world" which i think is spot on!
