I just got home and Toto is looking much improved (she just has a white circle now that looks to be healing skin, still ugly looking but not an angry red anymore). That is the good news. The bad news is that even though I had my husband test the water every day (and everything was at zero) when I tested it I showed 1.0 ppm ammonia and .25ppm nitrite and 15 nitrates. So the new cycle is holding. I did a 100% water change and kept her at .02% salt. I only have until next Sunday before the MMs are done and she can go into the main tank if healed, so I guess daily water changes until then.

It sounds like you are managing things really well. The ammonia is alarming however as that will slow everything up. Hopefully it was just that one off day.

Very frightening that ammonia was. I'm hoping that he was testing right and it was just that one day. I walked him through it and he always helps me read my tests, so I do think it was just that day. Today it is showing cycled again.

I thought I would take a couple of new pictures to get your opinion on how it is healing. It has two tiny white dots in the center which I am guessing might have been the initial puncture.

I'm glad to hear your baby is doing better! I think her cheek looks much less red and inflamed!

Me, too. Even though I saw her trying to wedge herself in between the driftwood and the bubble bar in the QT tank. This one needs a padded tank!

She is definately my "short bus" baby. She kind of reminds me of an overexhuberant lab whose tail knocks everything off tables and who runs into people's legs.

I guess she just relies on her cuteness and never decided to get an education...that's what happens when we rely on our lookshttp://www.kokosgoldfish.invisionzone.com/forum/public/style_emoticons/default/rofl3.gif

And she won't listen to me when I tell her that her looks may fade...
