This forum is for goldfish in need of help or just general disease discussion.


Please provide the following details when requesting help for Goldfish Problems:





[*]Test Results for the Following:
[*]Ammonia Level?
[*]Nitrite Level?
[*]Nitrate level?
[*]Ph Level, Tank (If possible, KH, GH and chloramines)?
[*]Ph Level, Tap (If possible, KH, GH and chloramines)?
[*]Brand of test-kit used and whether strips or drops?

[*]Water temperature?
[*]Tank size (how many gals.) and how long has it been running?
[*]What is the name and size of the filter(s)?

[*]How often do you change the water and how much?
[*]How many fish in the tank and their size?
[*]What kind of water additives or conditioners?
[*]What do you feed your fish and how often?
[*]Any new fish added to the tank?
[*]Any medications added to the tank?
[*]Any unusual findings on the fish such as "grains of salt," bloody streaks, frayed fins or fungus?
[*]Any unusual behavior like staying at the bottom, not eating, etc.?

Hi Cammie,
Have you found another fish vet since Dr. Westheimer retired this year? I cannot find one in all of Santa Barbara county.

If you go on their website they also have some for other provinces, it said somewhere that the also treat fish.

There are a few websites that post aquatic vets by states, so please check it out if you in need of one - maybe you get lucky! It is very hard to find them, so any websites that help with that are very much welcome....

It appears that this vet has sold his practice to a Dr. Lexi Rudd. No info, though, on whether she treats fish.

Here's the info for the vet in Orange County, California that had the article written about him for doing surgery on a huge tumor on a prize koi.
