White Gravel Not looking so white any more

If you've got white gravel, and all of a sudden you find it's covered in green stuff and you don't know what to do, here's an easy option.

It's algae, which thrives under the lights in your tank. Try turning the lights off for a couple of days. The fish won't mind, provided you have ambient light coming in through your windows, and before you know it, your white gravel will be white again.

wow, nice tip! :) i wish i knew it ealier as i have a barebottom now, lol, I had river rocks, it would have save me a lot of scrubbing and cleaning in the past.

Great tip! :exactly I'll try it on my tank will loads of algae (brown and green) on it today.

Sea hares, snails and algae blennys work too. In case you have corals that need light.

That would assume that the tank was salt water, I'm thinking this tip is for a goldfish tank.....blennys are for salt water :D
