The posts I've seen on horror stories of people coming home to polluted tanks/sick fish made me remember what I did when I went on vacation.

I went to the local dollar store and bought those daily pill holders (the ones with all the times/days of the week on them). I put one near each tank and put all my fish's food for the day in the holders. That way my mom (who was caring for my fish) didn't need to try to figure out how much or how often to feed them.

This works really well with pellets. I even did it with my newt and frogs tanks too. You can even keep the pill dispensers in the fridge if you feed peas, frozen foods, etc. :D

YUP! Best idea. I do it to. I actually had it in here over a year ago with pics of the pill boxes but it got lost :(

I am actually going away interstate in a few weeks so mine will be coming out of the cupboard for my fishkeeper to use.

If you can get the ones in a box for a whole week, (cost me $2)but the days are removable, you can save money by removing the containers for the days out of the box and use them for each tank, that way you get 7 of them from the one box.

That's a good tip, especially since I can't trust my neighbour...knowing her, she'd dump a pile of food in and check back days later! -shudder-. I'm going to try doing that the next time we go on holiday. :heart
