Well, after putting in some of the plant garland the food would seem to pool behind some of it and be hard to reach for the bubbles.

So, I made a a feeder ring from a fast food, clear, plastic lid. It is the large size, like from 7 Eleven or whatever. I simply used an exacto knife, cut out the center, flipped it upside down so it would keep boyancy like a boat and keep any edges kind of up in the air and away from their mouths, and tada!

It stays in the corner because of the circulation of the water, keeps all the top feeder foods from getting gunked up where the fish cannot eat it and you cannot see it unless you bend down and look because it kind of blends in with the water or hides behind the black rim...best part, no cost :D

Hope someone can use it!

Excuse the bad pic, I didn't feel like messing with the settings...

As I was putting my son to sleep, I was thinking about your post....and how it would work for me. Just don't see it. I see my fish jumping right thru it!

Good idea, but I'm also afraid of a potential "scratch" from the plastic. I know you wrote you bent the edges up...but again I think it depends on the fish. I have absolutely nothing sharp and my Johnny still rips his fragile tail!

Nope, the cup has an inner ring if you choose the right one. You cut between it which produces a high lip that turns inward. I did not say I bent any plastic.. and there is no way for the fish to reach that edge unless they are playing evil knievel and at that point it would bang its head into the tank lid and at that point one should have more worries than a plastic feeding ring.......like maybe putting the fish into a pond??...

I couldn't see it working for large fish that want to jump out of the water when feeding either, but then, who uses a small feeder ring for large fish?

Everything has a purpose for some and not for others..it is working great for the bubbles :D
